So I went to the Just V Show on 10/7/16 and it was a blast. One of the bonuses was the fact that there were loads of freebies on the day including 2 boxes Fry’s chicken style nuggets. I’ve only tried Fry’s traditional burgers after going to a restaurant and loving the burgers served only to find out they were Fry’s so I could buy them myself in most stores (for a lot cheaper I might add).
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Fry’s and the only reason I haven’t tried more of the range is because I’m often working within a budget and cook a lot from scratch to keep costs down. That just may have to change these little badboys were lush!
All I can say about these is that there like a much better version of the cruddy things you used to buy in McDonalds. The right balance of saltiness (not too much not to little), a lovely ‘meat’ like texture. That’s not something I look for in meat replacement foods, however, texture plays a massive part in the whole experience of eating. Then you’ve got the lovely crisp crumb coating. All in all I say vegan or not this is something you have to try. If your still undecided in coming to the greenside then these are a brilliant swap for reducing your meat consumption in the mean time. In both boxes I counted 18 nuggets with an average price of £3.25 and can be eaten alone made into so many meals/snacks.
I had to give you a close up. It’s such a realistic chicken style nugget and the taste and texture was so on point and correct that I instinctively looked for gristle and other random bits of chicken yuck. Yes I felt like a right doughnut when I realised what I had done. I’ve had a look around and have found that Ocado do some of the best special offers and carry the widest range so it’s a good start point if you want to try out some of the other products in the range.
Have you tried them before? If not give them a go let me know what what you think.
